St. John the Wonderworker Orthodox Church

Child Safety Policy

St. John the Wonderworker Orthodox Church recognizes that one of our most sacred duties is the safety and well-being of our children. For purposes of this document, a child is any minor person aged 17 and under. In our continuing effort to provide our young members with a safe, faith-based setting, we ask that everyone adhere to the following policy:

  1. Please always watch your children or ensure each child is with a responsible adult.

    • No child is allowed in The Barn or Sunday school rooms without adult supervision.

    • Children under 12 should not be on church property without designated adult supervision.

  2. No running or horseplay is permitted in the Sanctuary or Morton Hall.

  3. Parents are responsible for cleaning up after their children:

    • If your child has taken a plate outdoors, please check to make sure utensils and trash are cleaned up.

    • Tidy up after playing in the children's chapel.

    • Ensure your children are not trampling plants, picking leaves off plants, or otherwise.

This policy is designed for use at St. John the Wonderworker Church, its buildings and grounds, and any church activities. Be mindful that we are growing as a parish, and it takes time to develop relationships and get to know one another. We want our children to feel comfortable, and we also our parents to use caution and discretion. You, as parent or guardian, are always solely responsible for whom you entrust your children and/or their care and oversight.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to provide a safe and secure parish setting for your children and grandchildren.

These procedures have been designed/developed to comply with all Safe Sanctuary and OCA Guidelines, meet all insurance requirements, and to conform with applicable federal and state laws.
